one summer evening.

the other night i turned off the computer, abandoned the cell phone and spent the rest evening outside. i cleaned the dust and dirt off my old bicycle and rode it around the yard, i laughed with the family, i lingered just a little bit longer in the night air, and planted cabbage and lettuce with my daddy. usually i don't like gardening, but that evening the soil was soft and felt cool to my hands. we didn't start inside until fireflies began to appear in the darkness and the full moon was out to bid us goodbye for the night. that one summer evening left me feeling refreshed, fulfilled, and invigorated. it was what i needed to feel alive again.
